Valuing the
worth and dignity of each human being made in the image
of God,
and embracing
the eternal values of love, life and compassion –
the Sisters of
Nazareth House
offer services to the poor and suffering, regardless of age,
race or creed.

A haven for the sick, weak and vulnerable

In 1881, a small group of Sisters of Nazareth arrived in Cape Town, charged with the mission of caring for indigent elderly and orphans. [click here for more about our history]

Guided by their core values of compassion, justice, hospitality, patience, respect, dignity and love, the Sisters have for over a hundred years steadfastly followed their mission to take care of the most vulnerable members of society, regardless of race or religion, and in the face of apartheid and poverty.

Each programme is overseen by a religious Sister to ensure that it is run to the standard and within the philosophy of the Sisters of Nazareth. A general manager oversees the business side of the programmes, ensuring that budgets are adhered to and good business practices are maintained.

Funding
Although we receive a small government grant for each child, it covers only around 27% of the costs we face. Donations, bequests, sponsorship and fundraising events provide the lion's share of the money we need to keep going.

Donations of cash or goods are always received with great gratitude. Please click here to find out how you can help.
