width=202Celebrating St Patrick

St Patrick’s Day has been and gone but one of the church’s favourite saints was well remembered on his feast day.

Our staff members wore bits of green ribbon either in their hair or through their buttonholes. And our elderly residents were asked to observe ‘the wearing of the green’.

Irish stew was served for lunch with baked apple and custard (each apple carrying a flag with the words ‘Happy St Patrick’s Day’).

Irish music was played throughout the day and the walls were decorated with posters of shamrocks; leprechauns and an Irish blessing.

Celebrations concluded with a group of local schoolchildren visiting our elderly residents for a chat - each bringing the gift of a chocolate bar.

It was a happy day for all.
