Emily's new 'wheels'
You’ll know Emily as a permanent member of our Nazareth House family. When she came to us at 13 months doctors predicted that because of Cerebral Palsy - she’d be deaf and blind - and would never be able to move. Well Emily proved them all wrong. And during her progress to age 17; she’s found a special place in the hearts of Michael and Margaret - wonderful long-time friends from the UK who volunteer with us every year. Michael and Margaret felt that Emily would benefit from an electric wheelchair to replace the one in which she had to be pushed everywhere. They fundraised at home and this year Emily got her new motorised ‘wheels’. With help from our occupational therapist - Ruth - Emily has mastered the controls and now she whizzes around at will. She’s the happiest driver ever. The Emily of today is a small miracle – brought to this point by the collective love; kindness and encouragement of many ‘angels’ . If you are one of them - thank you. |
